March Madness at School

March 3, 2016

I’m linking up with Just Read, Positively Teaching and Inspired Owl’s Corner for their monthly Pinterest Pick 3 Party.

Pick 3 Graphics-March

March Madness is usually my favorite time of year. I spend a questionable amount of time taking notes on Selection Sunday, crafting the perfect bracket, and yelling at ESPN BuzzerBeater (highly recommend!) from the privacy of my living room. However, with my Louisville Cardinals out of postseason before it even begins, the only thing I have to be excited about is creating a fun environment for my class!
These Pinterest finds are awesome ways to incorporate learning and basketball this month:
1. Add some basketball books to your classroom library!

My favorite part about this picture is that there is an educational purpose to the seasonal decorations. A 70%-30% split of informative vs. literary text is recommended in the classroom… this is such an easy way to reach that goal!

2. Create an interactive bulletin board for your grade level!

Kids love competition. I would love to collaborate with our hallway on this one. I bet some of my first and second graders would try the third grade problems! It would also make the most out of our bathroom breaks that take FOREVER with my huge class size of 40!

3.  Have your students create their own bracket by picking their favorite mascot (something we’re all guilty of!)

Our daily do now would definitely have some fun facts about each college next to the mascot. Never too early to start!

What I’m wearing this March:

I’m still trying to figure out my basketball outfits for school, but here is what I’m wearing to school this March. What are you wearing this St. Patricks Day? (Even though this is a basketball post, I love hearing about your seasonal teaching style!

That Book display is great! Don’t have room for it, but there’s always room for cute interactive bulletin boards! Thanks!
